September 15 Read me first.....Welcome badminton players. The Calgary-based FCR Badminton Club encourages drop-in players to attend although prior arrangements must be made through the club email reservation system. The drop-in procedure is as follows.
Our email address is fcrnsa@hotmail.com We've heard that the FCR Badminton Club is different: 1) Friendly people and smiling faces. Except for Jay, Logan, Thomas, Gill, Catherine, Gary, William, May, Rick, Andy, Gladys ... OK, who are we kidding? We're really not that friendly and we only smile when we win (which isn't that often). 2) Drop-in players must register by email. The email reservation system ensures that we don't have too many and never have too few players in attendance. 3) About once a month feather shuttles are provided (no extra charge). 4) On occasion we also host a "Racquet Trial Night". On such evenings, badminton vendors provide us with racquets for the players to "demo". 5) A goal of this club is to promote badminton in Calgary. With this in mind, during the summer of 2008, the FCR Badminton Club financed a series of badminton lessons for its members. These lessons were taught by one of Canada's highest ranked badminton players and coaches. 6) The FCR Badminton Club owns an automated shot simulator called the Knight Trainer (manufacturer: Black Knight Canada). You might want to check it out as it is a very interesting piece of equipment. 7) Each year the club hosts an adult badminton tournament which is traditionally held in the late summer or early fall. More than 60 participants from various Calgary and area clubs compete for prizes in this event. 8) Drop-in players and club members alike are kept in the loop via this blog. |
